Courses

Introduction to Theatre

This course is structured for non-majors as a general education arts course. I include introductions to various components of theatrical production (directing, design, acting, dramaturgy) as well as introductory elements of script analysis and performance analysis.

Theatre History I/II

As a two-course series, theatre history covers significant developments and evolution of theatre and performance over time. Theatre History I reviews from the classical world to the Restoration, while Theatre History II reviews from the Eighteenth Century through to the contemporary.

Dramaturgy

Structured as an introductory course to production dramaturgy, this class focuses on the essential components of script analysis, critical theory, and historiography. Students explore the components of a dramaturgical case book for production, as well as develop skills in collaboration and tools for new play development.

Script Analysis

Taught as a required course for theatre majors, this class includes foundational components of reading and analyzing play texts. This includes examining components of structure, character, style, and themes.

This group focused on developing and understanding trauma-informed practices across disciplines. The culminating workshop helped identify tools and teaching interventions for faculty.
